The last notary didn’t ask for my fingerprint,
why did you?
Fingerprints are for your safety, to protect you and I from fraud. By law, it is required for a Notary Public to obtain a fingerprint on any documents pertaining to a property.
You don’t NEED to give your thumbprint on all general forms. In California however, a thumbprint is required for any documents pertaining to Real Property or Power of Attorney.
